Riyadh Municipality is the main website for Riyadh City. Each year millions of people visit the site, accounting for about 8 million sessions.
Back in 2012, the site was designed for users to browse by topic, click around. But the city instutusions is too big for that, and they knew they weren’t serving citizens the way they wanted. With only a single refresh in nearly 10 years, the site was due for an update so we took on our shoulders to help them enhancing their UI/UX.
Background
he Riyadh Municipality website serves as the primary online platform for Riyadh City, attracting millions of visitors annually with approximately 8 million sessions. However, the existing website, designed in 2012, lacked the necessary functionality to effectively serve citizens. Recognizing the need for a significant update, we undertook the responsibility of enhancing the UI/UX to provide an improved user experience.
Research
To initiate the project, we conducted comprehensive research to understand the specific pain points and requirements of both the Riyadh Municipality and the citizens. Through user feedback analysis, user journey mapping, and benchmarking against industry standards, we gained valuable insights to guide the redesign process.
